DeGeneres is out on Idol -- and that makes host Ryan Seacrest sad.

"Spoke with Ellen DeGeneres tonight. I will miss her on 'Idol,'" he Twittered Thursday. "She's one of the kindest and most talented people in Hollywood!"

DeGeneres, 52, who also hosts a daytime talk show, announced Thursday that she is leaving the show after just one season because "my work schedule became more than I bargained for."

A source tells UsMagazine.com, "Ellen definitely quit. She wasn't pushed at all. She knew she couldn't fit. Ellen wanted out for a while."

Seacrest, 35, may soon get some new pals: A source tells Us that Jennifer Lopez has signed on as a new judge next season, and it is likely that Aerosmith Steven Tyler will join as well.

Seacrest could replace the whole panel with his Kartrashian girls, LOL..just a thought. He is so far up their azz anyway

i dont like the new set of judges [except Randy]...american idol is doomed!!

Ellen added humor in an otherwise dour and boring assessment of contestants' performance. Except for Cowell's acerbic but amusing comments, the other judges--Randy, Kara, and previously Paula, did not help to markedly analyze the contestants' abilities and potential to be a great artist -- whether with the benefit of audiovisual technology or just plain audio (records or CDs). I just hope that the new crop of judges have better discernment to really bring out the real(not mediocre) American Idol in the forthcoming seasons. So far, the American public made their judgments better with their choice of Fantasia, David Cook, and Kris Allen who can sing superbly even with just listening(without video)to their voices.

    Two words: Joan. Jett.

Loved you Ellen. Don't care fore JLo or Steven Tyler. Guess I won't watch anymore. Hope Simon brings Paula on his new show XFactor!

  • July 30, 2010 - 7:07pm calty

Well, they just lost me -- JLo will be all about herself. She was good as a mentor -- but can't stand her otherwise

Awww, that's nice of Idol's Ryan Seacrest to say, but I wonder how much longer American Idol will be on?

  • July 30, 2010 - 2:57pm Jennetta

Things will never be the same without Simon,Paula, and Randy :(

  • July 30, 2010 - 2:40pm Italia

Please not Steven Tyler! We have enough drunks and drug addicts that we're forced to look at with Lindsay Lohan. At least Lindsay is cute. Steven Tyler is just an old-head, burn out.

    Gene Simmons!!!!!

  • July 30, 2010 - 2:17pm Lori

Doesn't matter who they get as judges--with SIMON gone the show is DOOMED!!! watch, everyone will be talking about XFACTOR once it starts, not IDOL!!!

  • July 30, 2010 - 2:00pm Brigid

I think David Foster would make a fantastic judge. He knows the business like no one, plus he will be brutally honest like Simon!!!

  • July 30, 2010 - 2:00pm Brigid

I would love to see David Foster in there as a judge!! He would be fantastic...no one knows the business like him...plus he will brutally honest, like Simon.

How about getting some real producers/writers/singers....people who know real singers when they hear them. Phil Spector (oh yeah he's in jail...but he knows talent Maybe satellite) Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (The hit duo that put Janet Jackson on the map) Baby Face and LA Reid (Toni Braxton and TLC) Clive Davis (Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and Fantasia)Paul McCartney (The Beatles) The list goes on and on. There are so many people who know TALENT that could be on the show.

that's too bad. i love ellen but i don't think she was right for the show anyway. best wishes to her!

  • July 30, 2010 - 1:04pm Qualified Women Nominees for AI Panel

TINA TURNER. CHRISSIE HYNDE. EMMY LOU HARRIS. JOAN JETT. ALLISON KRAUSE. JANET JACKSON.

  • July 30, 2010 - 12:22pm Desperation Move from AI

The mere thought of Lopez and Tyler as IA judges is crazy and pathetic - both are self-absorbed divas who are has-beens in their respective genre. While I supported Ellen's being a judge on AI over the last season but came to feel that she was not effective. She's smart, so it's logical that she's stepped down. That is not the case with Kara, whom I felt always gave knowledgeable and constructive comments.

Ryan could always push for his ho girls the Kartrashians to be judges, LOL! Might as well throw in stupid Snooki while he's at it. Pimp Jenner could be the host, LOL
