Jay Leno's new prime-time show has a premiere date. NBC announced today that the hourlong Jay Leno Show will hit airwaves Sept. 14.

Before signing off last week after hosting the Tonight Show for 17 years, Leno said: "Thank you for watching. Please give Conan [O'Brien] as much support as you've given me throughout the years. Good night. We'll see you in September."

O'Brien -- who hosted the Late Show for 16 years -- premiered on NBC last night to lackluster reviews. New York Post TV critic Linda Stasi called his opening monologue sketches "at times, painfully unfunny."
