Mark Ballas Is Injured, Doesn’t Perform on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ With Partner Paige VanZant

Update: Time for a new partner this week! Mark Ballas ended up sitting out of Dancing With the Stars‘ Monday, March 28, episode due to an injury. Troupe member Alan Bersten replaced him as Paige VanZant‘s partner, and the pair earned a 24 for their routine. Len Goodman even praised it as the best dance so far in season 22. 

Original story: He’s hurt, but not out just yet. Mark Ballas might not be able to perform on Dancing With the Stars’ second episode on Monday, March 28, a rep for the ABC series tells Us Weekly. The pro dancer was injured on set during rehearsals on Sunday.

Ballas, 29, is partnered with MMA fighter Paige VanZant on season 22. Despite the setback, VanZant, 22, appears excited to get back in the ballroom. “It’s show day!!!!!!! #DWTS22 #dwts,” she tweeted on Monday.

As previously reported, the pair scored a 21 out of 30 last week for their foxtrot to Jess Glynne’s “Ain’t Got Far to Go.” Earlier this month, Ballas opened up about working with VanZant during the DWTS cast announcement at Planet Hollywood in NYC.

“She’s an amazing student. She’s one of the hardest workers I’ve ever met,” he told Us on March 8. “We’re not worried about the competition. We’re just focused on what we have to do.”

Ballas made his DWTS debut with Cheetah Girls star Sabrina Bryan in season 5 in 2007, and took home the Mirrorball Trophy with figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi the following season. Some of his other celebrity partners have included Kim Kardashian, Kristin Cavallari, Sarah Palin, Melissa Joan Hart, Shannen Doherty, Candace Cameron Bure, Willow Shields and Alexa PenaVega
