Maroon 5's Adam Levine Tells MTV: "F*** You!"

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine won't be attending Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards -- and not just because his band isn't up for any of the show's many moonmen trophies.

"The VMAs [are the] one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music," The Voice mentor, 32, tweeted Saturday. "I'm drawing a line in the sand. F--k you, VMAs."

MTV responded minutes later via Twitter, telling the "Moves Like Jagger" singer: "Soooo you'll be tuning in at 9/8C tomorrow right? (BTW, bonus points if you TwitPic your 2004 Moonman!)"
Less than 30 minutes later, Levine -- currently on tour with Train and Gavin DeGraw -- said he has no qualms about making the bold statement on Twitter.

I agree with Adam here, it's great to see an artist telling it like it is. MTV was so cool in the 80s and 90s and then when 2004 came around, it's was about Laguna Beach and My Super Sweet 16. Then it got worse with 16 and Pregnant, Jersey Shore and Teen Mom and then some whack TV shows that gets cancelled after couple episodes, now you have to stay up at 3AM to watch music videos on that channel. They even aired Jersey Shore marathon on the same day as MTV's 30th birthday and the channel didn't have no type a celebration, only VH1 Classic channel did. Adam hit the nail on the head with this one, you go Adam! I hope more artists would speak up about this!

The truth really sucks and i agree with adam levine. MTV is no longer a music channel but a channel for reality shows. who cares about jersey shore, the stars are pathetic, also Teen Mom, Kardashians likewise sucks. bring back the old MTV days.
It is THE truth though. When is there actual music videos? They seldom have any music videos anymore. Instead we have shows that have nothing to do with music. We have shows about people drinking/fighting/being reckless and getting laid by anyone or about teen moms, etc..... SINCE they have MTV and MTV 2 have one of those channels be only about music and music related stuff and the other one about whatever. Heck even VH1 seldom shows music anymore.
Who cares about Jersey shore? I think MTV sucks since they don't show any music videos anymore. Totally agree with Adam!

So very TRUE! MTV is all about reality shows and NOT music! But, MTV does show music videos in the morning, and that's about it. I miss TRL! MTV should change their name.

MTV has not been MTV for YEARS! It SHOULD be called TRASH TV since they show nothing but trash anymore! It SHOULD be about the music instead of garbage.. They never have music videos on MTV anymore.... That is sad bc I remember back in the 80's and early 90's watching MTV at any given time and I could watch all the hit videos... Now we gotta go to YOUTUBE to see the music videos!

Good for Adam for stating what most of us know! MTV hasn't truly been MTV for very long time!!! All it cares about are those pathetic reality shows and thos idiots kids from JS who truly are worthless pieces of trash. Hopefully other artists will follow Adams example!
