Slow and steady. Newlyweds Sonia Granados and Nick Pendergrast finally talk about their awkward night in bed on Married at First Sight’s Tuesday, August 23, episode, as seen exclusively in Us Weekly’s sneak peek.
On the FYI series’ August 16 episode, Pendergrast told Granados that he didn’t want to rush their relationship — while they were in bed together. Granados got defensive and cried, causing the vacation-rental manager to briefly walk away. In the preview clip above, the social worker, 33, explains her reaction in an on-camera interview. “I was upset when Nick suggested that I am going at a faster pace,” she says. “It’s almost like, chill, we’re both in this together, but we’re getting to know each other.”
As the newlyweds sit on the beach for a romantic picnic, Granados opens up to her husband. “We’re not strangers,” she says. “But sometimes I don’t understand you.” Pendergrast replies that his wife may be worried for no reason. “I think you’re overthinking a lot,” he says. “It shouldn’t be stressful, it should be fun.”
As their conversation continues, Granados begins to reevaluate her own mind-set. “Nick is difficult to read,” she says to the camera. “Sometimes I’m needy in that sense.” At the end of the clip, Pendergrast reassures his wife: “There’s no time period to learn everything about each other.”
A previously released clip from the episode showed another husband still not revealing to his wife the truth about where he lives. (This scene was also exclusive to Us.)
