Judging American Idol is no easy task. Just ask Mary J. Blige.

"It was so much fun, but it was hard," Blige, 39, who appeared on the show Jan. 13, told UsMagazine.com at BET Honors in Washington, D.C. on Saturday.

"It was really hard, you know, because you didn't want to be bursting out into laughter," added Blige, who fought laughs a few times. "And you have to be honest. I had to be honest with people."

As for wannabes who didn't approve of her commentary, Blige said, "Someone got upset, but that's their problem, not mine." (Hopeful Lamar Royal threw a temper tantrum and called her a b*tch.)

Blige admitted she "doesn't know" what the show will be like once Simon Cowell leaves after this season.

"It's hard to predict... I hope they get someone who tells the truth," Blige told Us. "Simon told the truth."

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was totally disappointed by MJB's behavior because I do love her music and how she represented herself in the past on Oprah (composed, eloquent to say the least). Her antics during the audition was a big no no. All of the guest judges thus far were professional (Shania is by far my fav) except Mary, though I have yet to watch this week's with Katy Perry to confirm. @Angy: we're NOT Mary J. HATERS, we just couldn't believe how rude she was, that's all. No one has said she's hated. @Jenii84: Ellen wasn't part of the guest judging process -- she will be on (I believe) during the Hollywood Week.

I thought Ellen was supposed to be on Idol??? I watched the other day for the first time in years because I heard Ellen would be one of the judges and I didn't see her on. I saw Mary J Blidge and then last night I saw Shania Twain on. Shania was good on idol. She was silly and made it fun to watch but where the heck is ELLEN?! Does anyone know?

Her (lack of) professional behavior judging American Idol wannabees completely changed my opinion of Mary J. Blige. Her insensitivity and lack of self-control was an embarrassment. There's a difference between being honest and being rude.

yeah i wasn't happy with Mary's visit either, she didn't give any good advice like i expected her too and she was very rude to laugh in ppls faces like that...so far i've been very disappointed with the guests who've judged on this show this season...can't wait for ELLEN!

This is why I had to comment. I watched it for the 1st time at the weekend because I was at someones house. I dont normally watch this rubbish as its all fake. But I felt disgusted at home mary j and that other nobody woman were laughing hysterically in peoples faces. How goddamn rude! You telling me you cannot control yourselves?! That was plain bullying in my eyes. Those poor people may have sung offkey but to laugh like that can really send someone over the edge. How embarassing for those people to be publically humiliated like that! Something should be done about that!

she was one of the rudist people i have ever seen,,,all the laughing,,,,man so rude...everytime she sings i turn the channel and she really made that song one really horrible..

she said it was really hard, she didn't want to be bursting in laughter, she did not say she didn't laugh. everyone laugh at some point during the tryouts! And I have been to several of her concerts and never left with a migraine!!

Mary has a lot of nerve judging or laughing at anyone. When she's singing live she starts screaming and over singing the song. Go to one of her concerts and see if you don't come out with a migraine.

She didn't "fight" laughter; she DID laugh - quite rudely - several times.

Dude, Mary, you didn't "fight" the laughs! You were laughing your A$$ off in plain view of people.
