Megan Fox: actress, model and…comedienne?

The Jennifer's Body star is set to make her debut appearance on NBC's sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live during its premiere Sept. 26, the network confirmed this week.

While it's unclear if Fox, 23, will appear in any comedy sketches, she will deliver the opening monologue and introduce the night's musical guest, U2.

Also assuming hosting duties for SNL's 35th season? Ryan Reynolds, Gerard Butler and Drew Barrymore, who first appeared on the series in 1982 at age seven. Lady Gaga and Shakira have been confirmed as musical guests.

The news of Fox's hosting gig comes a week after reports surfaced that the series canned two show regulars, Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson.

Watkins, known for her impersonations of Arianna Huffington and Today's Hoda Kotb, says that while her contract was not renewed, she is grateful for her time on the series.

"[SNL head writer] Seth [Meyers] and Lorne [Michaels] and the guests and the cast were really amenable to letting me try new stuff," she told the New York Times after her dismissal. "The writers really trusted me, and I was surprised — I know how hard it is the first season, but it felt like a fit for me."

NBC announced Thursday that Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate would be joining the series as "featured players."
