‘The Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition’ Recap: Courtney Stodden Released From Hospital, Kim Richards Threatens to Quit Show

The Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition’s Tuesday, March 15, episode took place largely in a cemetery, but things did not rest in peace — especially when Kim Richards started packing her bags to leave the show.

Courtney’s Pregnant With Emotion

The episode started off with Courtney Stodden coming back from the hospital, and despite her mother Krista Keller’s persistence that “it could be pregnancy,” it turned out she was just vomiting up her feelings. Stodden confessed, “I had to go to the hospital … and I really feel like it has to do with the stress of being here with my mom.”

The next day began with a group therapy session in which Courtney came clean to her mom about personal pain from her childhood, saying, “I emotionally supported you since I was 10. You weren’t happy with my father. I witnessed you crying all day long.” When it was Krista’s turn to share her regrets, she could only talk on and on, bragging about all the meetings she had to set up while trying to launch her daughter’s career — once again confusing group therapy for a job interview.

Dearly Departed Daughter Drama

The next challenge involved each mother-daughter pair visiting each other’s fake gravesites in hopes of revealing any “buried” feelings. At first, Kim Richards was not having it when she told daughter Kimberly Jackson, “We are not doing this. We are not stepping foot on a graveyard. This is 100 percent where we are leaving.” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star explained, “They attach themselves, the spirits. I can’t even go near spiritual ground. I can’t have Kimberly do it. I believe she is an old soul.” Spooky!

When Kimberly finally arrived at her mother’s fake gravesite, it was an emotionally stirring moment. As Kim watched on, a teary Kimberly said, “This has been one of my biggest things since I was young. Losing her.” While Kim and Kimberly did have an emotional reunion, the grave visit sent Kim into an emotionally dark place, and she spent the rest of the episode threatening to leave.

Heidi Montag visited her mother Darlene Egelhoff‘s fake grave, and it caused the Hills alum to burst into tears, saying, “I feel like I hurt you the most of anyone in your life. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. I was just so self-involved, I had so much going on and I was so confused, and I never wanted that to happen to you.” After hearing these vulnerable words, Darlene rushed to her daughter’s side, and the two of them walked away in each other’s arms.

When it came time for Krista to visit Courtney’s grave, she spoke through tears about their recent estrangement: “I just wish that we could’ve realized that it was just wasted time that we just took for granted. On nothing but foolishness.” This “foolishness” likely referred to an emotional bond Krista allegedly made with Courtney’s 55-year-old husband, Doug Hutchison. In a sweet moment, Krista hugged her daughter and said, “I just love you, Courtney, and I never meant to hurt you.”

Don’t Say Natalie Nunn’s Name Unless She’s in the Room

As the episode went on, we saw each mother-daughter pair bond and heal, and even Kim Richards decided to stay and see the experiment through to the end.

And it wouldn’t be a reality show without an unwarranted angry outburst, and none other than Natalie Nunn was there to provide that. As she drunkenly bursted into Jose and Jessica Canseco’s room, the Bad Girls Club star screamed, “One thing we are not gonna do is say — and now I’m getting really f–king irritated — don’t say my name unless I’m in the room!” Fun fact: They weren’t talking about her at all.

Tell Us: After everything they’ve been through, should Courtney accept her mom’s apology?

The Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition airs on Lifetime on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
