Wipe those tears, and grab the wine! Olivia Pope is in the middle of a huge crisis with her gladiators and Papa Pope, but it seems she still can’t help but reach out to a certain man in power during her roughest days. In a sneak peek from Scandal’s season 4 finale “You Can’t Take Command,” Olivia (Kerry Washington) gets emotional while speaking with President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) on the phone.
“I just wanted to say hello and good luck with Mellie’s election,” Olivia says in the clip. “I’m proud of you.”
The tearful exchange comes after Olivia’s captive and former lover Franklin Russell (Brian White) is rescued by a B613 operative. (Come on, Quinn and Huck!)
In addition, Olivia’s call into the Oval office is sadly right after Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) dropped the L-word — ahem, while shirtless in bed.

Scandal’s season 4 finale airs on ABC at 10 p.m. EST.
