Paula Abdul Wishes Ellen "Best of Luck" on Idol

One day after Fox announced that Ellen DeGeneres had signed on to be the fourth judge on American Idol, Paula Abdul has nothing but good things to say about her replacement.

"I think Ellen will b a gr8 judge on Idol," she Twittered Thursday. "She is wildly funny, talented and I wish her the best of luck!"
Abdul, who left the show in August after eight seasons, might even see a bit of her own personality in the comedian. After all, in an interview on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show early Thursday, DeGeneres stressed that she'll be an "honest" judge who will "bring compassion" to the show. She also mentioned that she'll do her best to keep fellow judge Simon Cowell in check.

"I'll tell him the same thing I tell him when he's on my show -- that he's mean," she said. "You can be constructive, and you can criticize someone in a way that's helpful and not mean-spirited."

What a joke! My favorite show right down the toilet! And I was soooooo looking foward to January 2010. Oh, well, I'll find something else to do on Tuesday nites--4 sure!
I agree. What a shame. This is a GREAT reason for my favorite show to be cancelled. I do not want Ellen as a judge, nor do any of my friends. We want a woman in that spot, not a want-to-be man who flaunts her sexuality. Personally, I cannot believe she was selected to fill Paula's shoes, because she can't--and that's that. If you don't pick Paul, how about Dolly Parton or Olivia Newton-John--real women. Ya know? I won't be watching, nor will anyone else I am around. Too bad for the show--yeah, what a shame.
I would vote for Ellen for President....also she would be a great judge ....the Bottom line its just a opinion..there is no right and wrong...just someones opinion..!
Only an artise who can have been there, done that, and knew all can be a better judge to make idol happens like Paula! I am sure the show is going to be thumbs down.

Like Simon BUT with Paula gone - show won't be the same & my sisters and I are crushed Ellen is the new judge - We won't be watching AI anymore with Ellen on it.Simon, Randy & Kara are the best - didn't need another judge.
Ellen wasn't even able to judge in her own life when it came to that poor DOG she gave away. I haven't liked her since and won't watch Idol with her on it. I don't mind her talk show but I have to flip the channel when she starts to dance, if you could even call it dancing.
What else is Paul Abdul going to say? Ellen knows nothing about the technical part of singing and isn't that what the judges are there for? What a joke. I like Ellen as a commedianne, not a singing judge. What is up with that?

American Idol USED to be a great show when they kept it simple. Simon is going to get lost in the crowd now. So will Randy. First we are going to hear Randy, than Kara's crap, then Ellen is going to tell a joke, then Simon is going to insult someone. It's TOO MUCH!!! Plus, Ellen's dancing is OLD NEWS!! I don't want to see it on American Idol.
I don't want anyone to change Simon. After all, he got the show where it is, by being WHO he is.
Strategy: Get viewers that likes Ellen (which lots of people do), also Ellen is funny (more people like) which brings something new to the show - she may not be a dancer or had experience but, she adds comedy to the show; new twist. It would be fun to watch.
Out of respect to Paula, she should have never acccepted it. I think there will be too much pressure and she will quit. Idol-gate coming. If she's blubbering like on SYTYCD, ewe ........ And I don't see her fittng in with the other three. It's basically adding a clown to the show.
I can't wait for Ellen! She's going to be awesome. Much better than that drunk and drugged up Paula...I will admit that she was pretty entertaining!
Last time I looked I thought it was a show about music. Ellen dances, I guess she's qualified...NOT!
That show gonna be the least show without paula. It does not mean that it will be nothing but if the producers do not respect their employee, do not except that show will be the good show. they should have respected paula.
