A triumphant comedy about dying? Believe it. At 27, Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, superb) is diagnosed with spinal cancer. Despite only a 50 percent chance he will live, the self-effacing guy masks his fears from loved ones, including his girl-crazy BFF (Seth Rogen) and emotionless gal pal (Bryce Dallas Howard). Thanks to a sharp script by cancer survivor Will Reiser, Adam's battle is illustrated with poignancy and, yes, much humor. (In one exchange, Rogen tells his pal he resembles Voldemort.) Bring tissues anyway.
