A triumphant comedy about dying? Believe it. At 27, Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, superb) is diagnosed with spinal cancer. Despite having only a 50 percent chance of living, the self-effacing guy masks his fears from loved ones, including his girl-crazy BFF (Seth Rogen). The only person who gets him to open up: his green therapist (Anna Kendrick). Thanks to a sharp script by cancer survivor Will Reiser, Adam's battle is illustrated with poignancy and, yes, much humor. Bring tissues anyway. (Summit Entertainment, $27)
