Though the story's the same -- several teens struggle during four years at NYC's High School of the Performing Arts -- the grit of the 1980 original is gone. Instead, expect overdone musical numbers and underwritten characters. One nice moment? Naturi Naughton's update of the ballad "Out Here on My Own." (MGM, $30)
