Pilot Hal (Ryan Reynolds) becomes a superhero, then joins an intergalactic fraternity united to stop evil Parallax. Reynolds excels in the flick's action scenes, offering a boyish swagger and his usual good-natured humor. Yet the routine save-the-planet story lacks any real sense of danger or suspense.
