Review | Greenberg
IN THEATERS FRIDAY 3/19
US Rating: ***
Just released from a mental hospital, failed NYC rocker Roger Greenberg (Ben Stiller) brings his depressed, snarky outlook on life to sunny L.A., where he seeks refuge in his brother's fancy mansion -- and romances his sibling's personal assistant (Greta Gerwig).
The dramedy is richly written and Stiller's acting delivers, though his unlikable narcissist may put off audiences. The big discovery, however, is Gerwig, whose dreamy blonde -- lost in a post-college haze -- comes off earthy and instantly appealing.
