Us Rating: **

Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor make a peculiar couple in this long-delayed, odd comedy. They play star-crossed lovers Steven Russell and Phillip Morris, who meet in prison and fall fitfully in love despite Russell's inability to tell the truth. Man-on-man kisses aside, Love never finds the right romantic tone. Carrey is his usual manic self, which means he's a riot when rattling off how to con the prison system -- yet he's incapable of pulling off the required intimacy to make the gay coupling believable. Leslie Mann, as his hilariously naive wife, comes off much better.
