Warning: This harrowing end-of-the-world masterpiece unfolds with such high tension, it's almost unbearable to watch. Watch anyway. A who-knew-she-could-be-this-good Kirsten Dunst portrays a manic bride whose behavior becomes increasingly erratic (as in, she has sex with a stranger) during her reception. In the film's "Part 2," she finds peace while her sister panics about a mystery planet (Melancholia) that's hurtling toward Earth. Part disaster epic, part dysfunctional family drama, all effective, it resonates long after the big bang.
