More than just dancing partners? Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson went out with a bang on Dancing With the Stars this week, and the two may just continue their chemistry off of the dance floor.
“It’s ‘Kym-plicated,'” Herjavec joked, when asked by reporters about the status of his relationship with Johnson. The two have been dodging romance rumors for weeks, but heated things up on Monday, May 4, when they shared a passionate kiss in the middle of their last dance. They performed a contemporary dance to Jessie Ware’s “Champagne Kisses,” that included one intimate embrace amongst the footwork.
They remained coy after the show, as Johnson told Us Weekly, “It was just part of the dance!” The kiss wasn’t enough to keep the couple around, as they fell in week eight of the show with scores of 33 and 29 from the judges.
“I was very disappointed in the judges’ scores,” Herjavec told reporters following the elimination show, where The Bachelor‘s Chris Soules and his partner Witney Carson were also eliminated. “I thought that for the last few weeks — it’s never Kym, she’s a great dancer like all the dancers — but I thought that the scoring was a little harsh and tough. So I was a little disappointed in that.”
The Shark Tank personality, 52, and the Australian dancer, 38, were booted from the competition show on Tuesday, May 5, taking the sixth place title on the 20th season of DWTS. While they didn’t make it all the way to the end, the fancy footers quickly became fan favorites, enticing viewers with their palpable chemistry and onstage sparks.
“I’m shocked we got this far,” continued the Croatian businessman. “It kind of sucks you in because the farther you get the farther you want to go, but I’m really proud of where we got to and it’s been a great experience.”
Said experience included some steamy moments with his dance partner. Herjavec, who announced his divorce from his wife Diane Plese earlier this year, made no mistake of showing his affection for Johnson. He hinted at plans to visit the DWTS alum in her native Australia and promised that the two will stay close going forward.
“We just got along so well from the moment we met,” Johnson chimed in. “We both just really enjoyed this whole experience together.”
