A big storm is headed for New York City — and this one makes the current winter snow and ice seem like paradise. Sharknado 2: The Second One is set to debut on Syfy in July, and it's bringing with it a star-studded cast of potential shark bait.
Vivica A. Fox and Mark McGrath will join original Sharknado survivors Ian Ziering and Tara Reid as stars, while Kelly Osbourne, Judd Hirsch, Andy Dick, and Judah Friedlander will make cameos, Syfy announced Thursday, Feb. 13. Fox is playing Ziering's former classmate, Skye, and McGrath has been cast as his brother-in-law.
Osbourne, Dick, and Hirsch, meanwhile, will portray a flight attendant, a police officer, and a cab driver, respectively. And Friedlander is taking on the role of a character named Brian.
According to a press release about the casting news, Sharknado 2: The Second One will unleash a "deadly fury" of killer sharks on the Big Apple. Last year's made-for-TV original was watched by millions of people and sparked a huge trend on social media.
"Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm — on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel," Thomas Vitale, executive vice president of programming and original movies for Syfy, said in a statement to Us Weekly at the time. "What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun."
