Kelly Clarkson returns to reality TV Thursday with the premiere of ABC's Duets, and when she hits the stage to perform, she'll show off not only her stellar pipes -- but her hot slim bod!

In this preview clip from the new competition show's first episode, the 30-year-old inaugural American Idol champ belts out "Let Me Entertain You" alongside fellow Duets superstars Robin Thicke, John Legend and Jennifer Nettles.

So why did the "Dark Side" singer -- who shows off her fit figure in all black in the clip -- decide to return to reality TV?

"I have been approached before and I've said no, but this was different because ABC actually approached me at an award show and sold it to me like an award show," she tells Us Weekly. "The best parts on an award show is when different artists get to collaborate. Like when Tim McGraw and Nelly sang together, you're like 'What?!' but it works!"

Hitting the stage with her contestants Jordan Meredith and Jason Farol -- whom Clarkson found thanks to their video submissions -- the Idol alum will put her decade in the industry to good use when advising the wannabe superstars.

"[After Idol], the first four years of my career were almost total crap. They were hard. I was successful, but…the dream is to be happy while being successful and that was one of my biggest reasons for doing the show," Clarkson explains. "It sounds cheesy, but I wish I'd had someone there to hold my hand or say, 'This is a poor decision' or 'this is something you really should do.'"

Watch the clip above for what to expect from Clarkson on Duets before the series premieres Thursday at 8 p.m. (EST) on ABC.
