The movie stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, who portray two cancer-stricken teens. In the teaser, viewers see Hazel (Woodley) and Gus (Elgort) meet for the first time. “Why are you staring at me?” Hazel asks. “Because you are beautiful,” Ansel replies.

“I hope you realize trying to keep your distance from me in no way lessens my affection for you,” Ansel adds in another heartfelt scene. The trailer also gives a sneak peek into the first time Gus confesses his love to Hazel, and the troubling times the couple has in and out of the hospital.

Though fans will surely re-watch the new trailer, the emotional drama didn’t get off to the best start with audiences. Last month, the film came under fire when its first poster included a divisive tagline: “One Sick Love Story.”

The tag also rubbed Woodley, 22, the wrong way. “I had a really strong response to it,” she told Entertainment Weekly at the time. “It’s definitely — it’s not a tagline that I probably would have chosen by any means.”

Her 19-year-old costar, meanwhile, (who also plays her brother in the upcoming flick Divergent) didn’t give it a second glance. “I have no problem with the tagline. It’s cheeky,” Elgort tweeted on Dec. 20.

The Fault in Our Stars is set to hit theaters in June 2014. Watch the trailer now!
