Many plotlines intersect, Crash-style, in this heavy-handed film. Charlize Theron stars as a restaurant staffer who cuts herself and sleeps with the wrong men (including Sex and the City's John Corbett), while Kim Basinger plays an unhappy wife and cancer survivor. Though filled with subtle performances, the drama lacks suspense and leads to an unsatisfying payoff.
