Another gig before heading home! The Voice season 8 winner Sawyer Fredericks keeps wowing audiences with his moving performances. This time, the upstate New York native showed off his phenomenal vocals with a touching cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” at NBC’s Red Nose Day show on Thursday, May 21.
The three-hour live charity event took place at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. With his acoustic guitar in hand, the 16-year-old folk singer joined other stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Robert Pattinson, Ed Sheeran, Julianne Moore, Jack Black, Nick Cannon, Neil Patrick Harris, and Reese Witherspoon to raise money for poverty-stricken children.
Sawyer, Keith Urban, and John Mellencamp were the only entertainers to perform live. U2 and Sheeran’s sets were pre-taped for the broadcast.
“Sawyer Fredericks just melts my heart #RedNoseDay,” one viewer tweeted Thursday night. A second added: “Enjoy VERY few John Lennon covers, but this Sawyer kid is gooooood #RedNoseDay.” (Fredericks also sang “Imagine” one week during The Voice.)
