Kate Walsh: I've Never Been Skinny

To most, Private Practice star Kate Walsh mght seem perfectly thin. The actress, however, says she's happy with her fuller figure -- and doesn't plan to change it.

"I've never been skinny. I've never been a size zero," Walsh, 41, told Usmagazine.com at the Blow Out Cancer event Monday in Los Angeles. "Even when I was born, I was probably bigger than the other babies. It's really not a priority to me."

The 5-foot-9 actress -- who donned a fat suit to play Nicki Fifer on Drew Carey in the late '90s -- says she has always been a yo-yo dieter.

"I try to eat healthy foods, but then of course I really do love junk food, too. I still love my potato chips. I try to eat organic, but it's ... really expensive and not everybody can do that," Walsh continues.

To combat her sweet tooth, Walsh says, she's tried every diet on the market.

"I've done every diet there is. When I quit smoking years ago, I did the cabbage soup diet. I went on Atkins because I was going to have foot surgery," Walsh -- whose Private Practice premieres Oct. 1 on ABC -- has told Women's Health magazine. "I knew I wouldn't be able to move or work out, and I was afraid of becoming huge. I remember sitting by the pool with my legs elevated, eating a mixing bowl's worth of whipped cream with Equal in it."

    She didn't call herself "fuller figure". Us magazine did. I think she just meant she is not naturally skinny because she has to work for it.

Kate. you really think your curvy??!!?? i'm confused cause i thought curvy meant fuller busts bigger butt and thicker thighs. you have none of the above. get over yourself. i used to like you , not so much after a comment like that. i'm ur size and i'm definately not "curvy" p.s ladies theres nothing wrong with curvy, i just dont liek when skinny ppl think their fat. the only thing they're starving for is attention. no pun intended.

    In today's society, she is considered skinny because 60-70% of America is overweight. She is normal size with a toned body.Not even close to a toothpick.Stop hating!

    Whatever...I saw the pictures of her parading on the beach in her nude colored bikini that made her look like she wasn't wearing a thing. There is nothing curvy about her. She's thin as a rail. Let's face it, there are very few normal size actresses in TV and movies. If you aren't super skinny you don't get the part. Maybe she isn't getting much attention lately and she thought this "I've never been skinny" commenet would get her some.

    SHE IS SKINNY. This is why women have body image issues. I am tired of hearing skinny women say they are fat! I am a Kate Walsh fan but this is ridiculous. Since I have seen her when she came out on Grey's, she has always been super duper thin. Why can't she just accept that she looks great and stop talking about weight.

    Kate never said she had a "fuller" figure, the article did. Given she's so tall, she could never be a size 0 anyway, but I don't think she's any bigger than 2. Certainly the skinniest on her show, but she's amazingly beautiful. Love her bone structure.
