Snooki Weighed Just 80 Pounds While Battling Eating Disorder

Tuesday – January 19, 2010 – 4:49pm

After "The Situation" mocked Snooki's "rolls" on The Jersey Shore last week, she tearfully announced she once battled an eating disorder.

How bad was it?

"In high school, I really wouldn't eat," Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, 21, reveals in an episode of The Insider to air Tuesday. "I would only have lunch, and I would only have salads.

"It got so crazy that I would only eat a cracker or a cucumber a day and I would feel full," continues the MTV reality star (the show's finale airs Thursday).

Snooki says she "would go into the nurses office every day and I would weigh myself. When she [the school nurse] realized that I hit 80 pounds, she was like, 'This isn't good.'"

The nurse notified her parents.

"My parents told me, 'You need to eat, this is very dangerous,'" says Snooki, who is 4-foot-9. "So I gained my weight back to like 98, where I always was."

On Friday, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino told UsMagazine.com that he felt bad for mocking his co-star while they were dining together in Atlantic City.

"I regret saying it because I have a sister and a mother, but at the same time, everything happened so quickly and that is what happened," he told Us at the GBK Gift Lounge in West Hollywood.

At 4"9 having a slender figure is difficult. I'm 4"11 and weight 95 lbs and I still look chubbier then I'd like

i'm around snookie's height (4'10"-4'11") and i flucate between 98-105 lbs regularly, and i'm not thin, but i'm on the smaller side. it sounds like someone my height should be 80 lbs, but in reality, mary-kate olsen is about 4'10" and weighs 80 lbs, and she's obviously too skinny. but yeah, snookie DEFINITELY is not 98 lbs, because i don't even weight 98 lbs right now and i'm thinner than she is.

its is risky going on diets and not eating healthy. My aunt did when she was younger, living on water and lemon and then suffered a stroke that made her face look asymmetrical :(

Being that I have suffered from an eating disorder (it began when I was nine; and I spent the next four years struggling & working out eating problems -- most of which, even through counseling and extreme effort, have yet to be resolved) I always find it so... mocking, when stars claim to have suffered from one. The pain and emotional trauma that goes along with an ED is life-long -- I sympathize with her, if her struggle was true, but it really seems like a publicity attempt. Speaking from general experience & observation (based both upon myself and other recovering Ana's / Mia's I know): Most people who have suffered from an ED don't bounce back quickly. Eating is never normal again. Clothes, are never normal again. Most girls (if not almost all) I know who were anorexic, never again wear tight clothing or parade themselves around like that, simply because the insecurities and self-hatred still exist, no matter how suppressed they become. ED's are also very private -- I know many girls who claim to have them (they'll skip lunch, for attention) but you would never know that about a true (I'm not trying to belittle anybody's problems, but that seems to be the best wording) anorexic or bulimic. You don't broadcast it, the way she's describing her problem. It's a disease riddled with secrecy, hidden under layers of clothes and scarred knuckles. I hope she'll at least do something with the shiit load of money she's getting for all this attention for the recovery of people with ED's.

Why is it that everytime a fat girl gets called out on her weight she resorts to the desperate "oh you can't make fun of me because I used to have an eating disorder and was almost anorexic!"...."I'm going to cry waaaahhhhhhh". Yeah right? Why? Because you tried to diet (unsuccessfully) and didn't eat for a WHOLE day until you couldn't take it anymore and chowed down the very next morning???? I bet a million dollars this girl was NEVER dangerously thin--if she had been she wouldn't be bragging about it. Let's see if anyone who went to school with her can vouch for her story. Anyone? Anyone? Nope? Didn't think so. She's chunky, ugly girl who is so desperate for attention that she'll say and do anything. Come to think of it, she probably did go to the nurse's office everyday...she's likely a hypochondriac to boot!

maybe not "Lose Weight" more like Tone up.. for her height.. 98lbs is pretty accurate.. she looks out of shape.. there is a difference between out of shape and fat. She is a cute girl.. and for a little person has a HUGE personality!! and she is still so young.. I would love to see her tone it down a tad.. but I like her! she is a tough little cookie!!

If she's 98 pounds then I'm Jennifer Aniston.
  • January 20, 2010 - 11:44am Manda Says:

According to Weight Watchers, the minimum for someone her height is 94 lbs, and the maximum is 116 lbs. She doesn't need to work so much on her weight but rather, her face!

snooki, you are beautiful i have one small comment to make--i saw an article on you in a mag where you got a makeover. you looked absolutely beautiful. less is more honey. you don't need the big hair, you are beautiful au naturel, so don't let ANYBODY
  • January 20, 2010 - 10:16am B Says:

She needs to stop wearing skin tight clothes. Maybe then she wouldn't look so fat. She squeezes into clothes that are 2 sizes too small with her boobs shoved up to her neck and wonders why people think she looks fat and trashy.
  • January 20, 2010 - 10:13am Tray Says:

The sad part is if she had an actual eating disorder, her parents simply telling her "Eat" would NOT be enough to make her snap out of it and decide to start eating again. I am so sick of people thinking it is cool to claim they had an eating disorder. Same as back in the 90's when sexual abuse was the "in" thing to claim. There are real people out there dealing with these issues, and it is a long hard road and it only enforces the misconception that telling someone to "Eat" it enough and that they can simply stop their behavior at any time. This is simply attention seeking behavior on her part. IMHOO!

who is this chick with that stupid smirk on her face...i'm sick of seeing her with her ridiculous thing on her head...ugh
  • January 20, 2010 - 9:12am javah Says:

Her weight is fine; not everyone is meant to be skinny or tall for that matter. Variety makes people interesting. However, platforms and a poof on the back of the head doesn't fool anyone, you just end up looking like a short person trying to be tall. All that hair is too much for a tiny person like her.
  • January 20, 2010 - 8:57am London Says:

I don't understand why we would call this person names, fat, ugly etc. Are we adults? I/we teach are children not to name call, so why is it ok here... SaraB...I think 80 pounds is low weigh for her because she wasent eating. If a person is remaining healthy eating as recomended and weigh 80 pounds fine. But she is explaining her situation a bit diffrently.
