Hollywood’s platinum blonde phase is officially over. Lindsay Lohan, Bella Thorne and Rihanna are ushering in a new era of ruby red hair color, and truth be told, we welcome the sudden change of scenery.
Lohan (above), a natural redhead, debuted her strawberry-blonde-to-ruby shift on Instagram November 14, then followed up with a second selfie a couple of days later, captioning her post, “Good morning China, I’m here.”
Thorne, also a natural redhead, broadcast her rose-gold-to-ruby transformation to fans via Snapchat. Explains her L.A. colorist Rona O’Connor, “She wanted something completely unique, fun and edgy for the holidays … she wanted to twin with her sister Dani.”
Hue’s that girl? On November 15, the singer was spotted on the set of the Bates Motel in Vancouver, British Columbia. Whether it’s a wig or a dye job, we’re digging it, Riri!
All this red made us think about coloring our own hair, so we turned to O’Connor, who also works with Blake Lively and Kristen Stewart, for advice on whether the hue is flattering to all. Her take: “Ruby red looks best on fair skin, but copper tones will make it pop against olive and dark complexions.”
