Trading in Manolos for a manhunt! Ten years after Sex and the City went off the air, Sarah Jessica Parker is positioned to return to TV in a new crime drama.
Deadline reports that the non-fiction crime thriller, Busted: A Tale of Corruption And Betrayal In The City of Brotherly Love, has been acquired by Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, who will produce the show with Anonymous Content — the producers of True Detective.
The show follows two investigative journalists, Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker, who help bust open one of the biggest corruption scandals in Philadelphia’s history. Should the series get picked up, Parker plans to appear as one of the two female protagonists.
“Wendy and Barbara have written an amazing true story, and we’re thrilled for it to be SKE’s first television project,” SKE President of Production Carla Hacken and SKE President Jim Tauber said in a statement. “Sarah Jessica Parker’s coming on board, along with David Frankel and Don Roos is simply a perfect combination that we couldn’t be happier about.”
Frankel, who directed 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada, will direct the show’s pilot, and Roos (Marley & Me) will write it.
