Chris Martin

Chris Martin is a singer, songwriter and musician best known as the lead vocalist and cofounder of the band Coldplay. He was raised in Exeter, England, as the oldest of five children. He attended University College London, where he studied Greek and Latin and met his future Coldplay bandmates.

Martin’s early career took off after Coldplay gained attention with their debut album Parachutes in 2000. The record, which featured the hit song “Yellow,” brought the band international recognition and commercial success. They continued their rise with subsequent albums including A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) and X&Y (2005), establishing themselves as one of the biggest bands in the world.

Over the years, Martin has released multiple chart-topping albums with the group, earning several Grammy Awards. Known for hits like “Fix You,” “Viva la Vida” and “A Sky Full of Stars,” he has also collaborated with a range of artists across genres while maintaining the band’s global popularity.

Martin married Gwyneth Paltrow in 2003, and the couple welcomed two children, Apple (born in 2004) and Moses (born in 2006). They announced their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014 and their divorce was finalized two years later. He moved on with Dakota Johnson from 2017 to 2025. He went on to spark dating rumors with Sophie Turner.
