Ashley Tisdale knew she'd be logging plenty of hours in the gym when she signed on to play the head cheerleader on Hellcats — especially since "I eat a lot of food!"
Though she reveals she's the fittest she's ever been, the 5'3" actress tells UsMagazine.com she's notorious for being the biggest foodie on set.
"The guys are like, 'You eat more than we do!' It's kind of crazy," Tisdale, 25, says. "I eat food for the energy, and obviously I have to eat a lot because I'm burning so much."
Still, she admits some foods — particularly carbs — are off-limits. Instead, she eats six separate meals throughout the day, which typically consist of apples, almond butter, celery and hummus, as well as protein-packed foods like steak, fish and turkey.
Her one vice? "Coffee! Folger's, actually, with Coffee Mate," she tells Us. "It's the one thing I just can't give up."
Tisdale certainly benefits from the added caffeine boost. The actress' trainer has her kickboxing and lifting weights during one-hour sessions, six days per week.
"It's great for cardio. It's great for your abs and your whole body," Tisdale says of her kickboxing routine. "Weight training is great for toning up and leaning up without bulking up. But the kickboxing is really amazing because it just works everything at once.
The High School Musical vet — who has been dating music video director Scott Speer since April 2009 — says she's seen a massive change in her body since she first ramped up her routine.
"It's not really about weight loss," she tells Us. "But I can see the difference. I'm really toned and leaner. It feels good!"
