Teen Mom’s Farrah Abraham shared her unfiltered healing process after undergoing double-disc jaw surgery.
Abraham, 35, documented her healing process on Tuesday, September 29, following the procedure to treat her ongoing jaw issues. With stitches on the sides of her face, Abraham’s jaw was wired shut, leaving her unable to eat and speak for two months.
“Farrah cannot speak because her jaw is wired shut, and her face is extremely swollen,” her manager, Chrissy Johnston, told the Daily Mail, revealing Abraham will be on a liquid diet. “She is in a severe amount of pain and is really struggling, both physically and mentally.”
“To make matters worse, she has also lost hearing in her right ear. I hope and pray that her pain eases soon and that her hearing returns to normal over time,” Johnson added.
Shortly after coming out of surgery, Abraham made an appearance on her daughter Sophia’s TikTok live, where she held up a sign that read, “I had surgery + can’t talk. Thanks for all the gifts.”
The OnlyFans model also wrote that she felt like “Frankenstein” at the time and was hoping her swelling would go down within “three months.”
Abraham shares Sophia, 17, with Derek Underwood, who died in a car accident before she was born. Abraham made her reality TV debut in 2009 on 16 and Pregnant before starring on Teen Mom. She later appeared in Couples Therapy, Marriage Boot Camp and U.K.’s Celebrity Big Brother.
In her 2012 memoir, My Teenage Dream Ended, Abraham opened up about Underwood’s death, sharing, “I got off the phone and tried to calm down, but my mind was racing. Derek was the father of the baby I was carrying inside me. He was my first love, my only true love. Now Derek was gone forever, and so was my happy ending.”
Abraham, who was not actively speaking to Underwood at the time of his death, continued, “Every year, [me and Sophia] go to Derek’s grave site. We take pictures, we record it, and I have a whole baby box for Sophia with letters and pictures telling how and why things happened, and why I’m here today alone.”
