Heidi Montag is recovering from surgery again — but it's not what you think. The Hills alum, 28, went under the knife recently to repair a tendon in her arm, and is now walking around with a big ol' cast and a black sling.
"I haven't had proper use of that arm in almost two years," Montag tells Us Weekly exclusively. "I try not to complain about it much, but it's been painful. It's my tendon — it was pulling away from the bone, so I had to have it reattached."
The reality star says her injury was caused by an excess of exercise — "too much weight-lifting, CrossFit, and all that crazy workout stuff." She and her husband, fellow Hills alum Spencer Pratt, used to compete against each other in CrossFit, and she just overdid it.
"I'm super competitive and I think I just pushed it too hard," she tells Us. "I got a new cast today, and I look like RoboCop! I'll be in a cast for three weeks and then physical therapy. It should be six months of recovery time, total."
Montag's surgery has been a long time coming. Back in May, she told Us at the Reality TV Awards that her injury had worsened to the point where she could barely hold her own purse.
"It tore off the bone — the tendon did," she explained. "And right when I thought my surgery days were over."
(The Marriage Boot Camp star famously underwent 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day back in 2010. She later went under the knife again to have her size-F implants reduced to a D cup.)
"At least I have the rest of my health," she told Us in May of this year. "I don't have anything more life-threatening, so I'm just thankful for the rest of the parts that do work."
