Rock-hard abs! Kate Hudson ditched the tank on the cover of Shape‘s March 2015 issue, showcasing her slimmer (and sicker!) than ever body in a tiny sports bra and skintight leggings.
In the accompanying photos, the mother of two, 35, beams as she frolics on the beach in tiny shorts and crop tops. The actress holds a baseball mitt as she models gold sequin shorts and an ab-baring shirt. Her enviable tummy is again revealed in another where Hudson hoists up her arms while balancing on two rocks.
The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star claimed to the mag, however, that her hot body was not achieved by dieting.
“I hate the idea,” Hudson confessed. “It puts so much pressure on people to lose weight quickly. Getting healthy is not a two-week process, it’s a change of lifestyle.”
Indeed, Hudson’s entire life has been one based on constant movement and challenge. “By nature, I’ve always been the ‘dive in the deep end’ person. Literally,” Goldie Hawn‘s daughter remarked. “My mom says as a kid I used to jump in the deep end of the pool without knowing how to swim.”
The Fabletics founder was also trying constantly to “keep up” with her brothers. (Hudson has one big brother Oliver Hudson and two half brothers Wyatt Russell and Zachary Hudson.) “I was that bungee jumping, rock-climbing kind of girl. My brothers and I would ski the double black diamond. Now that I look back, I can’t believe I did it,” she admitted.
Hudson let go of that competitive streak after becoming a mom to her sons Ryder, 11, and Bingham, 3, whom she shares with exes Chris Robinson and Matt Bellamy, respectively.
“I felt a shift and really don’t have the desire to thrill-seek anymore,” she admitted. “The other day my brother [Oliver] was making fun of me and called me a Gucci skier. He said, ‘You’re wearing all the right clothes and look good skiing, but when you get down the hill, you’re done.’ And I thought, ‘You know what? It was fun while it lasted, but I don’t have to prove myself to you anymore.’ I’m happy doing what I want to do now.”
More recently, Hudson has adopted a Parisian mentality when it comes to libations.
“I was at my favorite French restaurant in Paris… eating everything I love…steak, fries, lots of wine,” she recalled. “Then the dessert came, and I was having strawberries and cream pastries plus the wine. [Then,] a svelte, sophisticated woman approached [my] table. She pointed to my glass of wine. ‘This is your piece of cake. That’s how you should be thinking.’ And I always try to remember that: Everything in moderation!”
The actress said when it comes to everyday eats, she’s the one taking charge in the kitchen. “Food is wonderful and amazing and yummy,” Hudson noted. “Taking the time to cook your own food and enjoying the process of feeding yourself can change your life.”
The March 2015 issue of Shape hits stands on Feb. 19.
