Katie Thurston is sharing a glimpse of her recent liposuction procedure amid her battle with breast cancer.

“24 hours apart. Still swollen and healing,” the Bachelorette alum, 35, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Thursday, September 10, alongside before-and-after photos from the surgery on her chin.

“Stitches under my chin,” she continued. “I had a tiny drain where that dot is by my ear. The drain was removed next day. I’ll do a more in-depth video as I continue to learn things and see the progress over the next few weeks to months.”

In another post, Thurston shared a photo of herself sitting on a couch with bandages wrapped around her head as she snuggled with her dog.

“Only sharing my journey for transparency and for those who are interested,” she wrote over the photo. “Not trying to influence you to do this or make a statement about what is and isn’t beautiful.”

Thurston continued, “We often compare ourselves to others, and I think it’s important to be open and honest about things like this so that we are being realistic. And if people want to remain private about what they do to feel better about themselves, that’s OK. I just want to remind everyone that we do live in a world of cosmetic procedures, filters and FaceTune. And at the end of the day, do what makes YOU happy.”

Thurston revealed her decision to undergo chin liposuction on Wednesday, September 9.

“After so many required medical surgeries, I decided to do one for myself,” she wrote via Instagram. “I’m all about transparency. Never had Botox. Never had filler. But today I did, in fact, have chin lipo.”

Thurston announced her cancer diagnosis in February 2025. Within months, the cancerous tissue spread to her liver, elevating her diagnosis to stage IV. She has since tried a variety of treatment options, including different medications and a double mastectomy.

In June, Thurston opted to delay her latest biopsy for the sake of her mental health.

“I am confidently going to decline both a liver biopsy and a new medication for another four weeks. Tomorrow I am switching to zoladex. And I’d like to see how that impacts my labs (if at all) before trying to incorporate more variables,” she said. “For mental health reasons, I really need to take a break from all the pokes and surgeries and just try to enjoy a somewhat normal summer.”

Thurston’s husband, comedian Jeff Arcuri — whom she married in March 2025, one month after revealing her diagnosis — shared an update on his wife’s health.

“My little saying is, ‘We’re kind of on the dirt road to lead to the highway [and] we’re trying to find the highway,’” Arcuri, 38, said on Today’s “Happy Hour” podcast, noting the “highway” would mean Thurston finds “the right cocktail” of medication. “Right now, certain things are affecting her body in more negative ways than they are helping her body.”

He added, “I do have confidence, you know, that we will get there. It just sucks watching her go through this, also, and the uncertainty, especially somebody so Type A and organized. She doesn’t like not having control of the situation.”
