Girl power! The Sports Illustrated 2014 swimsuit cover was revealed days ago, but the ladies chosen for the 50th anniversary special are still in shock about making the cut. During an appearance on the Today show Monday, Lily Aldridge, Chrissy Teigen, and Nina Agdal gushed about their photo shoot — and how the famed mag is all about embracing the female body.
“Just being in the issue was absolutely massive for me, so to get the cover — totally unexpected,” Teigen, 28, told Today’s Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie on Feb. 17. “Did not think it was going to happen.”
“I’m still in shock from it and it’s massive,” John Legend‘s wife added. “It’s so great to be able to share it with these two also. It’s really exciting.”
Teigen joined Aldridge, 28, and Agdal, 21, for the sexy cover that was shot in the Cook Islands off the coast of New Zealand. The scantily-clothed women all turned their backsides to the camera as they went topless and draped their arms over one another while only wearing colorful bikini bottoms. The highly-anticipated reveal finally debuted on Feb. 13.
“I think the cover is so beautiful,” Aldridge said on Today. “I love that it’s the three of us. I think we look healthy and happy and we’re having fun.” (The Victoria’s Secret model is mom to daughter Pearl Dixie, 20 months, with Kings of Leon rocker hubby Caleb Followill.) She previously added to Us: “I’m so excited to be a part of this iconic issue!”
Agdal, the youngest of the three, couldn’t agree more. “It’s such a legendary magazine,” the model said on Today. “It’s about great energy and about embracing the woman body.” She added: “It’s all very independent and successful women. It’s special.”
