She’s fashionable and fit!
During a Wednesday, March 16, press conference in Los Angeles for her latest movie, The Boss, Melissa McCarthy discussed similarities between her and her character, business mogul Michelle Darnell … including their dress sizes.
“I actually am a 14,” the trimmer-than-ever Oscar-nominated star told reporters.
In a recent Extra interview, McCarthy revealed the secret to her weight loss: a “superboring life,” she said. “You bring it real down, you don’t do anything fun and you go to bed at 7:30 — that’s the trick.”

The actress, 45, spent plenty of time in front of the cameras during filming, but her mind never strayed from her clothing line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7 Collection. It’s “going great!” the Ghostbusters star told reporters at the movie’s press conference about her passion project.

“I find it wildly creative. It’s something that I’ve dreamed of doing since I was probably in sixth grade,” she said. “Every time I fight for a seam or a better fabric or something, I think the fight’s worthwhile.”
The Home Shopping Network collection, which launched last fall, offers pieces from size 2 to 28W. Last June, McCarthy told Us Weekly that she oversees all facets of production, from tailoring to ensuring that there aren’t any “scratchy” products.
“It’s kind of the way I work,” she told Us at the time. “It’s what I thought I was going to do for a living, so I take it very seriously.”
And her character in The Boss, Michelle, pays the same attention to detail: “She requires a certain amount of pomp and circumstance,” she continued at the press conference. “Nobody wanted to see Michelle in Dockers and a T-shirt.”
The Boss hits theaters April 8.
