Millionaire Matchmaker's Patti Stanger wouldn't exactly call Jessica Simpson's seven-week romance with ex-NFL player Eric Johnson a touchdown.
"Forget the marriage issue!" Stanger, 49, told UsMagazine.com at the House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year party in NYC Monday. "Can the guy get a job? Now he's after her money, and that girl is rich! Really richy, rich."
The former athlete, 30, is in the process of finalizing his divorce from wife of five years Keri Johnson. In the meantime, he's encouraged Simpson, 30, to partake in a cleanse concocted by San Francisco-based healer Master Ming Yi Wang.
"He can be very persuasive and encouraged her to do the Master Wang program," a source told Us earlier this month. "He likes to have control."
And Simpson — who showed cupping marks at the Greenbrier Casino in West Virginia on July 2 — is happy to go along with it.
"Shocked my system with a vegan diet, special Pu-erh tea from China and cupping since Friday," she Twittered in June.
But another source warns that Johnson might be using the singer to jumpstart his next career.
"He does have a lot to gain from being with Jessica," the insider told Us. "He wants the limelight. He may be manipulating the situation." See the top 10 reasons not to get married.
Earlier this year, Stanger told Us that she wanted to put Simpson and Jennifer Aniston in "singles boot camp" with mutual ex John Mayer to rid them of their bad boyfriend pasts.
"If you're a John, you're a douche," she said.
