Drumroll, please! Playboy revealed its 2015 Playmate of the Year on Thursday, May 14, bestowing the coveted honor upon blonde bombshell Dani Mathers.
According to an announcement on the magazine's website, Mathers is "anything but ordinary" and has "a personality to match [her] looks." She was previously honored as Playmate of the Month in May 2014 and, before that, as Cybergirl of the Month in January 2013.
Mathers told Us Weekly she was surprised she landed the title. "I got the call and it was so vague," she recalled to Us. "I thought I was in trouble and I thought I had definitely lost my job — so that was nerve-racking!"
"I truly want to be a Jane of all trades," the L.A.-raised stunner, 28, told Playboy, noting that she grew up "playing in the mud, cheerleading, and playing volleyball" before turning to modeling and acting. (She was also a communications major at California State University, Northridge.)
"But first I'm committed to being a great PMOY," she said, "and I'm going to work my hardest to show everyone how appreciative I am for this opportunity."
In keeping with tradition, Mathers (who's engaged) was the guest of honor at an announcement ceremony on May 14 at the Playboy Mansion. Looking like a modern-day Marilyn Monroe in a plunging white gown, she beamed as she posed beside a blown-up version of her sultry June 2015 cover and then snacked on macarons decorated with the Playboy bunny logo.
"I've wanted this for so long," Mathers — who's had roles in The Bold and the Beautiful, Neighbors, and Furious 7 — said in a press release about the big reveal. "Like with any accomplishment, you work hard and hope it will pay off, but I can't believe I did it."
In addition to the PMOY title, the aspiring actress will receive $100,000 and a one-year lease on a 2015 Mini Cooper S convertible.
Mathers is the magazine's 56th Playmate of the Year. Last year's honoree was Kennedy Summers.
