From kicking butt like a superhero to spending a lot of face time at the gym, Scarlett Johansson has shown herself to be quite the fitness fanatic in the last few years. 1. Keeping Things Minimal
A few months ago, Johansson hit the streets running in a pair of Vibram FiveFingers. Besides learning that the star had a thing for minimalist shoes, we also found out that she is a midfoot striker — plus one for her! Striking with your midfoot provides greater shock absorption than heel striking and puts less strain on your calf muscle and Achilles tendon.
2. Superhero Shape
To get in shape for her role as Black Widow in Iron Man 2, Johansson enlisted the help of celeb trainer Bobby Strom. To get her action-hero ready, Strom had focused their efforts on boxing. In total, Johansson did 90-minute workouts seven days a week for five months. Besides boxing workout, she also did circuits involving kettlebell exercises, and classic strength training moves like squats, lunges, and push-ups.

3. Gym-Rat Status
A few years ago Johansson mentioned that she'd only seen a gym from the outside — my how things have changed! Where we mostly see the actress coming from these days is the gym! She's even been toting around some sort of shake in a BlenderBottle.
4. Exercise as a Source of Strength
Throughout their marriage, Johansson and her ex Ryan Reynolds were seen working up a sweat together at the gym. Then when her marriage ended, the star admitted that "going to the gym all of the time" pulled her out of depression.
5. Committed When Necessary
While not normally the dieting type, Johansson commits herself when necessary. To get in shape for her role as Black Widow, she stuck to a low-carb diet. Not the easiest thing to do, but neither is stuffing yourself in a Lycra catsuit.
