Shiri Appleby Shares Her Secret to a Supertoned Body

Her body is Unreal! Shiri Appleby has figured out the key to getting a killer figure right in time for bikini season — and she shared the details in the new issue of Us Weekly!

The Roswell alum, 39, credits her toned look to Anna Kaiser’s AKT InMotion, a functional training program that mixes cardio, weights and using exercise bands, which she does twice a week for 55 minutes. The program, which she calls “athletic and feminine at the same time,” has given her the opportunity to feel more connected to her body.

Just in time for summer. “It’s been 2 months and beach season is upon us … yesterday in my bikini, I felt really confident, like, really confident,” she told Us. “I could see abs finally … my thighs and butt feel really tight and honestly I’ve never had any kind of arm muscles, but now I’m seeing a lot of definition.”

The versatility of AKT is a plus for the Unreal star: although Kaiser is based in New York, Appleby works with a Los Angeles-based trainer — and she even does the routine in her own home. (AKT also has studios in Connecticut, as well as an On Demand app.)

“That’s what’s great about it too. It’s really just like being in a yoga class, so I’m doing it in the corner of the living room,” she explained. “I do it usually around 7 o’clock in the morning. Today we’re doing it later at 5, so the kids are kind of coming in and out and I like them seeing like, ‘Mom works out and takes care of herself and does things to keep herself healthy.'”

Appleby, who shares Natalie, 5, and Owen, 2, with husband Jon Shook, also appreciated that AKT is family-friendly — not only do her kids assist her, sometimes they join in! [Natalie and Owen] have fun doing it too ,” she said. “If you watch some of my Instagram stories, they’re always coming in and pulling the blocks down from in between my legs, you know, it just makes it fun.”

The actress also praises AKT because it’s gotten her in the best shape she’s ever been. “It’s awesome to feel like that at this stage in life,” she added. “Just to feel so confident in your skin.”
