When Amber Portwood learned that she was pregnant again, she initially wasn’t sure how to take the news.
“When I first found out, I was a little scared,” the Teen Mom OG star, 27, exclusively tells Us Weekly. “I just kind of sat down and thought about it and realized that it was a big step in my life and it was a good thing actually, and I was really happy within 30 minutes.”
And that half-hour made all the difference. “After the initial shock, it was nothing but happy thoughts and just enjoying my time with my boyfriend,” she gushes of her new beau, Andrew Glennon. “We’re both very happy.”
Us confirmed on Wednesday, November 1, that Portwood and Glennon are expecting their first bundle of joy together. They met while she was filming Marriage Boot Camp with her ex-fiancé Matt Baier. “Amber has been feeling sick lately,” a source exclusively told Us at the time. “But she’s really, really happy!”
The MTV personality, who shares 8-year-old daughter Leah with ex-fiancé Gary Shirley, revealed on season 6 of Teen Mom OG earlier this year that she didn’t plan to have any more children because of the medications she was taking for borderline personality disorder and bipolar disorder. However, she stopped taking the meds about three months ago after her split from Baier.
“I wanted to see if I was just unhappy because of the things that were going on in my life at the time with him, and I realized after weaning myself off that I actually am OK,” she tells Us. “It’s manageable as long as you have a healthy lifestyle and healthy people around you.”
