The Bates family just got bigger! Whitney and Zach Bates, of the new UP TV series Bringing Up Bates, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Bradley Gilvin Bates, on Wednesday, Oct. 29, the couple confirms exclusively to Us Weekly.
“We can’t even begin to explain how overjoyed, excited, and grateful we are to be parents!” Zach and Whitney gush to Us. “We just can’t seem to take our eyes off of him. He has already brought so much joy into our lives, and he’s enjoying being the center of attention in the Bates family. We are thankful to the Lord for this precious gift of life!”
Bradley was born to Zach, 25, and Whitney, 21, at Tennova Healthcare Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn., at 10:12 p.m. on Wednesday night, weighing in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and measuring 19 inches long. He is the first grandchild for Gil and Kelly Jo Bates, who — like their pals Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar — have 19 kids.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled about the birth of our first grandchild Bradley Gilvin Bates!” Gil and Kelly Jo tell Us. “We can’t wait to show him to the world. With 19 aunts and uncles begging to hold him, we think he’s gonna be showered with love!”
The Bates brood will make their return to television on New Year’s Day with UP TV’s Bringing Up Bates. They formerly had their own TLC show, United Bates of America, and also appeared on the Duggars’ series 19 Kids and Counting.
According to a press release, the reality show will “take a fresh look at an uncommon, ultra-conservative American family with larger-than-life personalities.” Bradley’s birth will be a major plot point in the new season, as will the relationships between Erin Bates and husband Chad Paine, and Alyssa Bates and husband John Webster.
Viewers will also get to know the rest of the sprawling Bates clan: Michaella, Lawson, Nathan, Tori, Trace, Carlin, Josie, Katie, Jackson, Warden, Isaiah, Addallee, Ellie, Callie, Judson, and Jeb.
