Back in 2013, Busy Philipps said something so relatable.
“I’m so mean to myself about my body sometimes,” she revealed during a interview with Amanda de Cadenet. “Or I can be judgmental of other people for their bodies . . . I don’t know how to get over it.”
But the 38-year-old refuses to let her own insecurities affect her daughters Birdie, 9, and Cricket, 4.
“I’m very careful about how I talk about myself in the home, to myself and to my husband,” Philipps told Us Weekly and other reporters at the Tuesday, April 17, I Feel Pretty premiere in L.A. “The things I say privately in the home are always being heard by our kids. So I’m never weird about wearing a bikini or showing my body off.”
“I try to empower my own self in front of my girls,” she continued. “That’s the best I can do.”

Philipps, who costars in I Feel Pretty with Amy Schumer and her BFF Michelle Williams, has a special connection to the comedy. Her husband, Marc Silverstein, co-wrote and co-directed with his longtime writing partner Abby Kohn. Gushed Philipps: “It felt like a family on set.”
The Cougar Town alum plays Schumer’s best friend in the flick. (Premise: Schumer’s character has low self-esteem, then hits her head at a cycling class and wakes up feeling model beautiful.)
“I had to audition seven times,” Philipps joked about working with Silverstein. “No, obviously for us it was more about figuring out what part I was gonna play. And it really made sense once Amy became attached for me to play one of her friends. That’s the part I always sort of thought I would have.”
This is the first time Philipps and Williams have appeared together onscreen since Dawson’s Creek came to an end in 2003.
