Cate Blanchett’s no longer the leading lady in her family! Earlier this month the Oscar winner, 45, adopted a baby girl named Edith Vivian Patricia Upton with her husband Andrew Upton, thus fulfilling her wish for a daughter.

“They wanted another baby, and especially wanted a girl to even out the household,” a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly. (The actress and her spouse of 17 years are already parents to sons Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10, and Ignatius, 6.)

On a March 2 flight from Los Angeles to Sydney, Blanchett was spotted cradling her newborn. She “looked very natural and relaxed with the baby,” says a witness. “She was very cuddly. There was no indication that Cate needed another set of hands to help her. The baby didn’t seem to cry once throughout the whole trip!”

A day prior, the Cinderella star told Us on the red carpet premiere of her new film, “In real life, I’m not the evil stepmother.”
