Garcelle Beauvais is prepping for a major family milestone this fall: Her 6-year-old twins, Jax and Jaid, are making the jump from kindergarten to first grade. “They get very excited about going back to school and seeing their friends,” Beauvais, 47, tells Us Weekly.
As she prepares to send her boys off to elementary school (in separate classrooms for the first time!), the author of children’s book I Am Living in 2 Homes, enlisted their help in this year’s back-to-school shopping. “They can’t say they won’t wear something if they picked it out themselves,” says the single mom.
She shared some of their fall finds with Us.
Catimini Reversible Jacket
“Unlike some twins, Jax and Jaid don’t want to dress alike,” Beauvais tells Us. “This hoodie is reversible so they can switch it up.” ($124, Shopcatimini.com)
The Children’s Place Pull-on Plaid Shorts
“Jaid’s funkier in style than Jax. He can wear any color T-shirt with these,” she says. “Jax would wear a sports jersey every day if I let him.” ($17, Childrensplace.com)
Sperry Top-Sider Chukka Boots
“I love the neutral color for fall,” the actress says of the leather classic. “The boys love the bright-yellow laces.” ($65, Sperrytopsider.com)
L.L. Bean Reflective Backpack
“The boys know most dinosaur names and the bright pattern helps me keep an eye on them when we’re out,” she says. ($25, Llbean.com)
Reduce WaterWeek Kids’ Bottle Set
“These are perfect to throw in their school bags or use at sports practices,” she says of the dishwasher-safe plastic bottles. “The boys love them, and the fun colors are easy to find in a backpack.” ($15 for five bottles and refrigerator tray, Kohls.com)
