Her double doubles have arrived! WNBA star Glory Johnson gave birth to twin girls last week, she revealed on Instagram on Sunday, Oct. 18, sharing that they were premature.
“Babies Ava Simone & Solei Diem arrived on Monday!” Johnson, 25, wrote, alongside a snap of their tiny toes and fingers. “Born a little earlier than expected, I have No Worries because these babies are fighters just like I am! We all know God makes NO mistakes and by his Grace, everything will work out for the greater good. We will continue to trust God as they are in his hands. Continue to keep us Lifted because there is Sooo Much Power In PRAYER!!!”
She followed up with another post on Monday, Oct. 19, sharing a pic of herself at the hospital. “I have So Much LEARNING to do before you BOTH get here,” she shared. “But I promise to prepare myself Everyday to Properly Welcome You Home!”
Johnson revealed that she was pregnant in June. “Its not a surprise for me because this is what we planned for with the IVF Cycle, though hearing their hearts beat for time was the most ASTONISHING thing I have ever heard in my ENTIRE LIFE,” she shared at the time.
Her joyous foray into motherhood, however, followed a rather dramatic year in her love life.
In May, the Tulsa Shock player married girlfriend and fellow basketball player Brittney Griner — but the two split acrimoniously just 28 days later, a day after Johnson announced her pregnancy.
Griner, 25, filed the annulment request, which Johnson later told Us Weekly completely blindsided her. The athlete told Us at the time that she was “truly really saddened” by the end of their short marriage, and “was not expecting to have [it] end so abruptly.”
Griner, meanwhile, told ESPN that she had doubts about tying the knot before they walked down the aisle. “But sometimes you feel pressured into things,” she said in June. “I went along with it and I knew I shouldn’t have and it was a huge mistake.”
