Heidi Montag is keeping it real about mom life.

“Taking Cara Babies changed my life. I did cosleeping with my older son [Gunner]… and he just started being a good sleeper. And he’s 8,” Montag, 39, said on the Wednesday, April 29, episode of “The Squeeze” podcast hosted by married couple Taylor Lautner and Taylor Lautner.

The Hills alum revealed that she and husband Spencer Pratt took a different approach with their second child, Ryker, after going through a tough cosleeping experience with his older brother.

“So, a lot of people like cosleeping. Great. I did too until it ended up being an awful experience,” Montag said, noting that she doesn’t judge other parents who prefer that over a bassinet. “He wouldn’t sleep alone at 3, 4 and I can’t sleep with him. He wakes me up. He kicks me. It was impossible.”

Montag said she followed Taking Cara Babies’ approach to holistic sleep training, noting she didn’t let Ryker, 3, cry it out but just took suggested steps to keep him well-regulated and constantly reassured. Key hygiene for Taking Cara Babies “includes a safe, dark room (68-72°F), a sound machine, and consistent bedtime rituals.”

The approach was “just about a routine,” she added, calling it “informative” and “helpful.”

“That changed my life … When you have to work, you have to sleep,” Montag pointed out, adding that many stay-at-home moms may choose to nap when their babies nap, which is what she did the first time around.

Now that she’s a mom of two, Montag said she had to figure out a new regimen that worked for their family.

While appearing on the podcast, Montag also shared words of advice for new parents, telling them to live it up before their little one arrives and take vacations when they can.

“Go to Hawaii,” she said. “Take the trip. Have the babymoon.”

Montag added, “Relax on the beach. Take it in.”

As for the most “orgasmic” part of her pregnancy journeys, she said it was definitely the TLC she received from Pratt, 42, revealing his foot rubs were game-changing.

Montag and Pratt have been married since April 2009, recently celebrating their 17-year wedding anniversary.

Pratt told the New York Post in 2025 that Montag always finds a way to keep a smile on his face, no matter what they are facing as a couple.

“It’s just more Heidi being an angel that makes it a lot easier,” he shared. “I always say like, ‘I don’t know if marriage would work out if I wasn’t married to you.’”
