Hilaria Baldwin received a scary phone call as she made her way to Us Weekly’s Most Stylish New Yorkers party on the evening of September 12. The yoga instructor’s 3-year-old son, Rafael, had split his chin open in the bath and needed medical care.
Not wanting to disappoint anyone, the fitness guru, 34, walked the red carpet and then booked it to the emergency room. “I didn’t know what to do because I’m such a Capricorn in terms of working and showing up,” Baldwin explained to Us Weekly the day of the incident. “But the most important thing is I am a mom and everybody was so gracious when I turned to them and said, ‘I gotta be with my son.’”
The mom of four, who partnered with Jet.com to help her family stay organized, met husband Alec Baldwin at the hospital. “Rafa was like, ‘Oh, I’m bleeding,’ and he wanted to talk about it a lot,” Hilaria told Us. “I was of course keeping calm in front of him but inside I was very upset.”
Hilaria and the Oscar winner, 60, share Carmen, 5, Rafael, Leonardo, 2, and 4-month-old Romeo. Alec is also dad of daughter Ireland Basinger-Baldwin, 22, with his ex-wife Kim Basinger. There’s a chance the 30 Rock alum will be in the delivery room one more time.
“I think we are both on the same page,” Hilaria told Us of having a fifth baby. “We have our moments, like when Rafa was in the hospital and we were like, ‘Oh, my God, what have we gotten ourselves into?’ When it’s hard, it’s really hard, but then most of the time they are hugging and kissing each other, and they are so sweet.”
Carmen has been asking for a little sister. “We’re going to have to see how it goes,” Hilaria mused. “I’m not saying no, but we’ll see.”
Though another kid would make life at the Baldwin house even more chaotic, Hilaria doesn’t have to worry about running out to the store for diapers and paper towels. She orders “everything” from the Jet.com app including snacks. “It’s the prices, and it’s convenient,” she told Us. “Can you blame me?”
