Joe Jonas is sharing rare insight into his coparenting dynamic with ex-wife Sophie Turner.
“I’m a single dad and I coparent with my children’s mother,” Joe, 36, said on his “Hey Jonas” podcast with brothers Nick and Kevin Jonas on Tuesday, June 2. “I think my children have given me purpose again in my life.”
Joe and Turner, 30, share joint custody of daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3, following their 2024 divorce.
The Jonas Brothers member added that his kids are “the reason I do what I do now,” noting that he works hard when he’s away so that he can enjoy his time with his daughters when they’re together.
“They’ve really given me the reason to be alive, I would say,” he continued. “I think, in my saddest moments, I’m able to be reminded quickly that a hug from them can solve the world’s problems.”
Joe also praised Turner, as well as other members of his support system, for helping him raise his children.
“There’s a lot of people in my situation that are single parents and go through this, and I’m grateful that I have a co-parent that I can balance even the bad days,” Joe said. “But I think being able to have good people around me to kind of help me navigate it is really special.”
Joe added of his kids, “I think they’ve taught me that I’ll be OK even in my toughest days.”
Joe and Turner announced their split in September 2023 after four years of marriage.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they wrote in a joint statement at the time. “There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
The “Work It Out” singer and Game of Thrones actress settled their divorce in September 2024.
“After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the U.K.,” they told Us in a statement at the time. “We look forward to being great coparents.”
Turner reflected on coparenting with Joe in a May 2024 interview with British Vogue.
“I think we’re doing the best we can,” she said. “I’m confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children, and that’s all that I can ask for.”
