Time for some rest and relaxation! Justin Bieber and his mom, Pattie Mallette, had a sweet mother-son date and got pedicures together.
The “Company” singer, 22, shared an Instagram photo of himself, rapper Khalil and Mallette, 40, getting pampered at a nail salon on Monday, June 6. “Moms and k,” he captioned the pic.
Last November, Bieber revealed that his once-close relationship with his mother was “pretty nonexisting.”
“I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was,” he told Billboard magazine at the time. “We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust. She’s living in Hawaii now, so it’s hard, but getting better. She’s an amazing woman and I love her.”
He also spoke of their sudden estrangement in his GQ cover story in February. “I’m a lot closer to my dad than I am to my mom,” he explained, adding that he doesn’t see Mallette “as much as I’d like to.”
“You don’t need them as much,” the entertainer said of his parents. “For them, it’s like, you were all they had. Not all, but they were so invested in you. And then one day you’re just gone. And you’re doing your own thing, and you don’t need them, and you don’t value their opinion the same either.”
Bieber and his mom recently spent time together at one of his Purpose world tour concerts. “What a great show @justinbieber !!!!” she tweeted on March 21 after his first of three sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ Staples Center.
