On the Jan. 21 Season 5 premiere of Teen Mom 2, Leah Messer revealed that her 4-year-old daughter, Aliannah, has a rare form of muscular dystrophy.

Difficult diagnosis. Since Aliannah's birth four years ago, Leah Messer has been on a mission to find out why her daughter was having developmental delays compared to twin sister Aleeah. On the Season 5 premiere of Teen Mom 2 on Tuesday, Jan. 21, she got the heartbreaking diagnosis.

Messer, 21, learned that Aliannah is suffering from a rare form of muscular dystrophy. The condition is degenerative and will progress as she gets older, eventually confining her to a wheelchair.

Twins Aliannah and Aleeah are Messer's daughters with ex-husband Corey Simms. Messer has since married Jeremy Calvert and changed her name to Leah Calvert. She welcomed her third daughter, Adalynn Faith, in February 2013. The MTV star shared exclusive photos of her expanded family of five with Us Weekly back in March.

"Eventually, Ali could be in the chair all the time," Calvert, 21, explains in the new issue of Us Weekly. "But I've never seen her so happy. She chases [twin] Aleeah and doesn't fall down anymore."

Though the diagnosis was hard to accept, Messer and hubby Calvert are trying to stay positive about her future.

"Ali enjoys drawing and Aleeah takes cheerleading lessons. Adalynn, meanwhile, is a mama's girl," Calvert shares with Us. "I can't go out!"
